Title
EWG 23-12: Stock Assessment in the Adriatic, Ionian and Aegean Sea

Description

The meeting will be conducting stock assessments of demersal fish species in the Central and Eastern Mediterranean. The results will be used by STECF to form the basis of fisheries advice to the Commission. The final terms of reference and the list of stock to be assessed will be finalized at the STECF summer plenary in July. To allow experts to decide the appropriateness of their expert contributions to the process for their application, we have provisionally provided last years terms of reference to this EWG which are likely to be very similar to the plans for this year. Note that these ToR will be updated with the final ones once available.

Meeting open to observers: Yes

Please Note: Only those receiving an invitation letter to attend a meeting as observers will be granted access to the meeting. If you are interested to attend the meeting as observer please make yourself familiar with the rules and procedures for observer registration/invitation including the protocol for observers.

Registration Instructions

This meeting is part of the provisional STECF Work Programme for this year. Once the date of the meetings are known and the meetings have been confirmed, experts will be able to register their interest to participate to the meeting. Invitations will be sent to selected experts, following the procedures as outlined on the STECF website (https://stecf.jrc.ec.europa.eu/adm-registration ).

Deadline for the expression of interest to attend a meeting is 20 working days before the start of a meeting. Those experts who register after the deadline will be given lower priority depending on the number of registered participants and seats available.
The process for selecting participants for STECF meetings is as follows: the chairman, the coordinator the focal point and the STECF secretariat contact interested organisations and inform them of the upcoming meeting and invite suitable candidates to register their interest. As the meeting date approaches the secretariat takes the list of people who have registered and forwards it to the DG-MARE focal point, chairman and coordinator. The participants are chosen from the list based on their experience, but also in order to create a balanced group of participants (not too few, not too many) that covers the relevant geographical areas as well as areas of expertise. The list is published and an invitation letter is prepared. Only once an expert has received an invitation letter can travel be arranged.
